President's Letter

September 30, 2011

Dear EAPAT Members,

Welcome to the 2011-12 EAPAT year! It’s shaping up to be another interesting year in the EAP field. EAP’s continue to play a role not only in the personal well-being of employees and their families, but also workplace dynamics, including relationships between employees and supervisors, management policies and practices.

As a board, we have been reviewing our mission statement and target group, and I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of this:

EAPAT MISSION STATEMENT: To provide support for the continuing improvement of employee assistance services and to provide a platform for our diverse group of stakeholders to share and to integrate employee assistance services into the forefront of global health strategies.

Our first educational seminar this fall will be presented by Barb Butler, on Oct. 27, 2011. She will be presenting on the topic of “Duty to Accommodate – Drug and Alcohol Issues”. She has been consulting with companies across North America since 1989 on drug and alcohol policies and programs. We anticipate another well-attended session based on early registration. Please join us!

Seminar dates for the rest of the year will soon be posted here on the website www.eapat.org. Stay tuned.

Please note that we are now able to provide 1 CE (Continuing Education) certificate to any attendee, at your request. This allows you to receive credit for the educational component of these sessions.

It is important to give credit to the dedicated board members who make these seminars happen:

Goldie Newman – Mandel Newman Associates
Shereine Laylor
Darren Harris – Organizational Health
Ralph Kelly – Aspiria
Louise O’Grady – Ceridian
Greg Van Slyke – Homewood Human Solutions
June Lam – FSEAP
Susan Boyle – Mercer
Roxanne Derhodge – Roxanne Derhodge Consulting

Here’s to another exciting and interesting year working in the EAP field! I hope you make it out to as many of our seminars this year that you can. Bring a friend! Bring a colleague! See you soon.

Sincerely,

Linda Hochstetler
2011-12 President, EAPAT Board of Directors
